Meet Gideon

Meet Gideon

Gideon is our 3-year old, fun-loving, pure-bred German Shepherd. When our previous shepherd passed away at 14 years old, we knew that we wanted to find another shepherd just like him.
We located Gideon in Ohio and excitedly traveled there to get him. His dad comes from full German lines and his mother is full American German shepherd. We believe the German and American cross results in Gideon having the intelligence and vibrancy of the German and the sweet temperament and beauty of the American.
Gideon loves to be around people and has many tricks up his paw. Our favorite is that he will shut the door when he comes in the house!
He also loves to greet us when we come home by racing our vehicle in the driveway. We have quite a long driveway so we've been able to clock him at 32 miles per hour. He loves to accompany us on our walks and quad rides. Of course, he always has to be first - always in the lead, our ever-watchful guide.
Gideon also loves to chase things out of the yard. He particularly loves to chase birds as though someday he will catch one. And as you can see in the picture, Gideon loves spending time with the boys. Whether it's taking a spin around our pond in the canoe or swimming there, Gideon is their constant companion.

Meet Duncan

Meet Duncan

Duncan is a West Highland White Terrier who came to our family as a puppy 11 years ago. He had excessive energy and a mind of his own, which continues to this day. Since he was the only dog on the block where we lived, he assumed the position of neighborhood guard dog and always gave warning when anyone came to our house as well as our neighbors. During Halloween season, he always patrolled the perimeter of our yard, keeping the mischievous kids away. Quite often in the mornings, our entire neighborhood would be decorated with toilet tissue, with the exception of our house.
When Duncan was about 5 years old, he began watching TV. One day when he barked at whatever was on TV, my husband said, “Get em, Duncan.” Duncan took it from this point on to protect us from the loud sounds on the TV, and this day it is very difficult to watch an action packed movie with Duncan in the room.
As he got older, I thought he would mellow, but not Duncan. When he was around the age of 7, he noticed the school buses that passed our house twice a day and created a game as to who could reach the end of our yard first, him or the bus. He would wait till the bus was almost to our yard and run as fast as he could to the other end of the yard as if in a race. He timed it just right so he would win every time. Duncan got quite a reputation for this game and one day a lady in a car stopped in front of our yard when she saw him, wound down her window and said, “Come on, I’ll race with you.” He didn’t take the challenge, as he only raced with buses.
One day while searching the Internet I came across the Dog Whisper's site, which had a section to submit your questions and concerns and they would get back to you with a solution for your dog’s problem. I sent them my concerns about Duncan watching TV and bus racing game in hopes they might have a solution to end these. They never responded…maybe he’s just too much of a challenge, even for Caesar Milan.
